Common fixes

The plugin doesn't show up in my DAW

Rescan plugins in your DAW after installing. Our plugins live here:

  • Mac: AU in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, VST3 in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
  • Windows: VST3 in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

You need macOS 11 or later, or Windows 10 or later (64-bit).

Pro Tools can't see the plugin

Pro Tools only loads AAX plugins. We make VST3, AU and Standalone, so our plugins don't run inside Pro Tools. They work in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper, Cubase, Studio One, GarageBand and other VST3/AU hosts.

The standalone app hears nothing (Mac)

Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and switch the app on. If the app isn't in that list at all, download it again from your download link: builds from before mid-August 2026 had a signing problem that hid it from that list, and the current version fixes it.

The standalone app hears nothing (Windows)

Open Settings, then Privacy & security, then Microphone, and turn on both "Microphone access" and "Let desktop apps access your microphone" (a Windows update can switch these off). Then pick the input your guitar is plugged into in the app's input selector.

Logic Pro: Roomtone sounds panned left

That was a bug in Roomtone 1.2.21 when it was inserted as Stereo on a mono track, and it's fixed in 1.2.22. Download again from your original link and run the installer over the old version.

Crackles, dropouts or delay

Raise the buffer size in your DAW's audio settings to 256 or 512 samples. If you hear a delay while playing, use your audio interface's own driver (on Windows, its ASIO driver) rather than a generic one.

Getting the latest version

Your original download link always serves the newest version. Download again and run the installer over the old one. On Windows, the Installer (.exe) replaces both the plugin and the standalone app; the ZIP only updates the files you copy by hand.

Linux

Our plugins are built and tested for Mac and Windows only. They aren't supported on Linux, including through Wine or plugin bridges.

Still stuck?

Email northernvalleyaudio@gmail.com (open in your mail app) with your order number, operating system, DAW and a screenshot if you can. There are no license keys or activation to worry about: once a plugin is installed, it's ready to use.
